The exact date of the founding of the University of Oxford is unknown, but the academy traces its origins to at least 1096. Oxford is located about 60 miles northwest of London and about 45 percent of its student body is made up of graduate scholars.
More than half of Oxford’s graduate scholars undertake research as part of their studies. Research at Oxford takes place in all four of its academic departments in the humanities; Fine, Physical, and Life Sciences; medical knowledge; and social beliefs.
Oxford’s academic timetable is divided into three terms – Michaelmas (Autumn), Hilary (Spring), and Triumvirate (Summer) – each eight weeks long. The language of instruction in the university is English.
The University of Oxford is made up of central universities; 38 Sodality; and six permanent private halls, which are smaller than the sodality and offer minor subjects.
The Sodalities at Oxford are each equipped with a dining hall, common room, and library. Undergraduates are guaranteed council housing for their initial term and can often continue to live there throughout their post-study period.
Graduate scholars are not guaranteed to house but some sodalities may have room for them for the first time, especially for international scholars. Tuition fees are advanced for non-European Union scholars.
The university and its academic departments and sodalities, as well as dozens of external organizations, have made more than 900 scholarships available to graduate scholars.
